Dancing and 3AM Nachos

I was fully prepared to share my joy that I had finally beat the 10 pound mark, until I went out last night and completely blew the weekend. I was doing so well tracking and eating well along with the 3 mile walks up until Thursday. After a long day of work I took my girl Ang to Meijer for late night grocery shopping. My first mistake? Not eating dinner before going. Nope, I didn't buy out the store of all their junk food, I did stay pretty well on track. I did, however, hit the Taco Bell drive thru after! ACK!!!!!

Needless to say that day was shot pretty quickly. Friday I woke up with great resolve to kick it in high gear again and started out my morning with a 3 mile walk. Friday night saw me at my favorite local hangout with 2 cosmos (14 pts) and a thin crust pizza (pts unknown!!). Top that off with 2 more beers at the next joint and my points are all gone for the day and the week and I still have Saturday to contend with. Good intentions for Saturday were gone with the leftover pizza, Chinese buffet, fried pickles, and countless drinks and a shot of tequilla. I do have to admit it was a very fun night with my friends and my guy (in is defense he tried to tell me to back off the junk, I just blamed it on PMS) and I know I danced off at least one fried pickle. Late night dancing was followed by tasty nachos at 3am. Why, oh why??????

So, the moment of truth is the scale on Sunday morning. I knew it was not going to be good, but it was beyond awful. I GAINED 4lbs this last week!!! 4 FREAKIN pounds. Now, I know that I have no one to blame but myself, and I take full responsibility, but it still sucks.
Why is it so hard for me to stay on track? I am great one week on followed by a week of I can do whatever and I suffer for it. What can I do to get myself to stay on track every week? Any advice is always welcomed :)

Tomorrow is the last weigh-in day for the office weight loss challenge. I had been in the lead as of last week, but I may have killed it today. Here's to hoping that this is mostly water and that I can shed it before tomorrow morning! Update tomorrow to follow.

Sunday Morning

Today is the moment of truth- weigh-in day!! After my night of drinks, I have to admit I was a little nervous to get on the scale this morning. DB and I had a nice dinner in and then headed out for drinks at the Raven. I had decided to be good and only have two, and then we left and headed to another bar and I had a few beers. Overall, it could have been much worse, but I had some leftover points to use up and I did.

OK, so the results are in. As of today I am down 3.6lbs. Woot!!! It seems that walking and watching what I eat have really paid off. :) I am so excited to see how far I can go with this and motivated to keep it up. Next Monday the 31st is the last day for the work weight loss challenge. I hope to be the big winner/loser and take home the $75 prize! Money I can spend on my Zumba DVD's!! Speaking of, has anyone tried it??? Please let me know how it is wokring for you.

New Beginnings

I realized today that I am horrible at keeping up with this, but I have a new focus that should help me out. Last year, being my 30th year, I had decided to finally get in shape and be healthy. Well, another year later I have made zero progress and I have finally had enough. It has been about 6 weeks now since I started making changes to my life and I decided it might be time to document it and share it with the world. The good, the bad and those very ugly and dark days.

Six weeks ago I started Weight Watchers for the 4th time. I used this method about 5 years ago for my best friend's wedding and lost about 20lbs. Somewhere I fell off the wagon and made a few unsuccessful attempts since then. It was the weight loss challenge at work that motivated me to try again; there was money involved!!! And I need all the extra cash I can get. I signed up online and have been measuring, tracking and losing ever since! I have had one bad "up" week, but have doubled my focus and set myself a goal.

My 31st birthday!! It is on April 28th and I have a 25lb challenge to lose by then. It won't be easy and I have tacked pictures of myself at my highest and lowest weight to the fridge. It serves as a good reminder of where I was (7 years ago) and the midpoint (5 years ago). After the initial 25 challenge I will have one more 25 til I reach my goal. Not sure what that date will be, will keep you posted. My weigh-in day is Sunday, tomorrow, and I know that the scale will be in my favor this week! Along with my healthy eating I have started a fantastic walking program; Walk Away the Pounds. I am not one who likes to use the gym, I much prefer to be outside. Michigan winters don't usually let this happen!!! So, I walk in my apartment and just did the 3 mile yesterday and the 2 mile today. I feel so much better about where my life is headed.

Tonight I plan on making a fab seafood dinner to share and then out with friends. I know that when I go out I can't suck down the cosmos (7 points each!) and will enjoy something I can sip. It's more about the company anyway :)
Picture above is from NYE's, pretty much at my starting point, minus about 5lbs. One day at a time!

Fun With the Littles

This is a picture of my best friend, Theresa's kids. Theresa and I have been friends since 6th grade and I love that I am so close to her kids to be called Auntie Megs! I love being able to spend time with them as both Theresa and her hubby come from big families. I took this picture in December when the kids came over for their Christmas presents. They love to give each other hugs and are almost always really nice to each other, but I am sure that will change as they get older :)

Yesterday I took the kids to Lowe's for the kids building workshop. They each got a bag of goodies, including an apron and goggles... wish I would have taken my camera, they were adorable! It was the first time either of them had used a hammer and I was surprised they caught on so quick! Cameron even managed to hammer his planter to the table!!! Talk about a good time.

It is times like these that I feel really lucky to have such great friends. They listen to me when I complain about being single and not having children of my own. They also tell me I can take their kids whenever I want!! I am patiently waiting for the birth of my next niece or nephew from my other best friend, Angela. This is another great situation where I can be Auntie Megs to a beautiful soul. Unlinke Theresa, Angela and I are only children, so I am looking forward to being 1 of 2 Aunties along with her sister in law. I am sure when the baby is here I will be snapping pictures and posting them like the doting Aunt I love to be!

Crossing my fingers

As I was typing my first post yesterday I received a phone call from Lapeer EHS. They were calling to set up an interview with me for next Tuesday! I am so excited to get back out there and start the process..... It has been 7 long months since my temporary government position ended and I have been praying ever since. I hope that I can impress and that they like what they see in me :)

Here is a peek at the pair of earrings that I listed today in my etsy shop. Take a peek:

What I did today....

Posted by Picasa
The pictures I took and edited for my etsy shop! I think they turned out pretty well....

A beautiful sunny day

I spent a few hours outside in this lovely 70 degree weather to take some new pics for the etsy store. I started out in long pants and a long sleeve shirt and quickly decided I needed to work on my tan! The pics turned out great, some editing to be done when the sun goes down.....

My lovely neighbor stopped by on her bike. At 65+ she inspires me to get off my duff and get out there on my bike!! Wish I would have taken her pic, she was so cute with her retro blue Schwinn and red helmet. She was so sweet to invite me over to work on my lastest sewing projects, as she has been a sewer for decades. Since I bought my machine a few months ago, I have yet to use it! I did buy some fabric and some patterns, just haven't figured out how to put them together!!

Well, since this is my first post I should tell you a few things about me. I am nearing my 30th birthday in 2 weeks (from today), am a single gal, currently applying for almost any job, awaiting the arrival of my 3rd niece or nephew and generally happy with life. There are times I wish I could have done things differently, but don't we all..... I love to read, cook and be crafty. Cheers to new adventures!
